Contest rules

Below you can find the full rules of the community contest for a new mob and item in Minecraft.

§1. General provisions

  • The organizer of the contest is the owner of the platform publishing mob proposals (hereinafter: the “Organizer”).
  • The contest is a community initiative and aims to select the most interesting mob concept for Minecraft.
  • The contest is not affiliated with Microsoft or Mojang Studios in any way.

§2. Participation conditions

  • Any person using the platform may participate in the contest.
  • Participation in the contest is voluntary and free of charge.
  • Each participant may submit any number of projects.

§3. Submission rules

A submission should include:

  • the mob name,
  • a description of its appearance and behavior,
  • proposed mechanics,
  • optionally artwork or a visualization.
  • Submissions may not violate the law, copyright, or the platform rules.
  • The Organizer reserves the right to reject submissions that do not comply with these rules.

§4. Submission review

  • Each submission is reviewed by an administrator before publication.
  • The Organizer may make language or editorial corrections to the submission without changing its meaning.

§5. Voting

  • Projects are subject to community voting (the “heart” system ❤️).
  • Each user may vote according to the platform rules (for example, a vote limit).
  • The Organizer reserves the right to remove votes obtained unfairly (for example, bots or manipulation).

§6. Contest duration

  • Voting lasts for 6 months from the start of the contest.
  • After that period, submissions no longer take part in the ongoing contest ranking.

§7. Winner selection

  • The winner is the project that receives the highest number of votes.
  • In the event of a tie, the final decision is made by the Organizer.

§8. Award and publication

  • The winning project will be highlighted on the platform.
  • The project — together with its description and the number of votes received — may be forwarded to Microsoft as a community proposal to add a new mob to Minecraft.
  • The Organizer does not guarantee that the project will be implemented in the official version of the game.

§9. Copyright and consent to use

  • The participant declares that they are the author of the submitted project or have full rights to publish it.
  • The participant grants the Organizer a non-exclusive, free-of-charge, perpetual license to publish, use, and promote the submission.
  • The participant agrees that the submitted project — together with its description and materials — may be forwarded to Microsoft as a community proposal to add a new mob to Minecraft.
  • The participant acknowledges and accepts that if the project is used by the creators of Minecraft, they are not entitled to any claims, compensation, or profit participation.

§10. Liability

  • The Organizer is not responsible for content published by users.
  • The Organizer reserves the right to remove content that violates these rules or the law.
  • The Organizer reserves the right to change the rules at any time.

§11. Final provisions

  • These rules enter into force on the date of publication.
  • Participation in the contest means acceptance of these rules.
